BEAUMONT - The Beaumont Housing Authority is teaming up with local non-profit agencies and colleges to apply for more than $3.8 million in grants.

The grants will be awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development Super Notice of Funding Availability (Super NOFA).

Organizations, non-profit agencies, colleges and faith-based groups can apply for more than $2.3 billion in grants that can be used to provide job training, housing for people with AIDS, community development and economic development.

"We are meeting with different organizations to try and bring more money into Beaumont," said Robert L. Reyna, housing authority executive director.

Working collaboratively, the agencies are more apt to be awarded the grants and a number of the grants require agencies to get a letter of support from the housing authority.
